Location: Hybrid Working (1-2 days office a week - Bradford/Hull)

As a LWW Engineer you will champion our blue green plan and the nature first approach for our Living with Water SuDS schemes by providing technical input and guidance. You will work with multi-disciplinary teams ensuring hydraulic modelling, civil engineering and SuDS design come together to develop flood resilience solutions which deliver the best possible outcomes for customers and the environment. You will work with our strategic planning partner (SPP) and internal experts to develop your skills and expertise in retrofit SuDS delivery and complex hydraulic modelling.
Where you fit in:
As our Living with Water Engineer, you will
- Attend partnership and core project team meetings with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure hydraulic modelling, civil engineering and SuDS design come together to generate solutions which deliver the best possible outcomes for customers and the environment.
- Collaborate with stakeholders internally and externally on our innovative approach to monitoring and testing to ensure we're able to maximise our understanding and the performance of new assets.
- Provide technical support with the SPP (Strategic Planning Partner) and internal experts on SuDS and flood resilience and help push the boundaries of flood risk engineering.
- Ensure the appropriate partnership governance is in place to support the development, delivery, adoption, and maintenance of new assets.
- Develop and utilise your understanding of hydraulic design and modelling to work with the multi-disciplinary design team to quantify the benefits of the solutions that are delivered.
- Liaise with Developer Services, Operations and Asset planning on SUDS planning and adoption challenges.
- Provide technical support with the SPP to senior leaders and partners for scheme and LWW partnership queries.
- Work with SPP to deliver requested information including modelling queries to support partnership opportunities and schemes.
- Responsible for governing and collating data for the LWW PCD and wider benefits that the schemes deliver.
What skills & qualifications you will need:
- Full UK driving licence.
- Technical knowledge and experience of flood risk management, hydraulic modelling, and SuDS.
- Understands the principles of control of works - permits, PoWRA, RAMs.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience of compiling, interpretation and communication of technical information and data.
- Experience of working in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to absorb technical information and communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
You will also benefit from having:
- Knowledge and understanding of project management and capital delivery processes.
- Previous experience gained within the flood risk or wastewater sectors or within the broader utilities.
- Civil engineering qualification.
